No one can prepare you
No one can prepare you for motherhood.
No matter how much you are told, how much you feel like you’ve learned, nothing will prepare you.
It’s the constant battle of loving it and being overwhelmed by it.
It’s being needed 24/7 by tiny humans that drains you and simultaneously fills your heart.
It’s crying when they cry because you feel like you’re not doing enough but also knowing you are exactly what they need.
It’s making meals, changing diapers, giving baths while starving and exhausted yourself then you remember you haven’t peed in hours.
It’s fighting guilt when you take a moment to collect yourself.
It’s being maxed out and wanting to do more.
It’s one of the most selfless jobs there could be.
Then you look into the eyes of your toddler while he says mama and lifts his arms to retreat to his safe space.
Or you look down at the sleeping face of your newborn.
And the overwhelm is replaced with gratitude and immense amounts of love.
