What is a Mother?
The night before Mother’s Day and I’m laying here in bed next to babe who has just drifted off to sleep after spontaneously rolling over to kiss me on my cheek before closing his eyes.
I can’t help but wonder what Mother’s Day means to people all over the world.
This Mother’s Day I am a Mother of 4..
This sweet boy lying next to me calls me “mama”.
Two sweet angels in heaven.
and one sweet baby nudging me from his/her safe and cozy place in my belly.
This year Mother’s Day just means something more than it ever has for me. It makes me wonder if foster mama’s feel it, if mama’s who lost their babies too soon, feel it.
It’s hard to explain in words.
But what is a Mother?
What qualities do Mothers carry?
What qualifies us to hold that title?
I think it’s love.
Whether you held your child outside of your womb alive. Whether you held a child for weeks or months or years before they reunified with biological family. It’s the love you gave that child. It’s the nurturing selflessness. It’s the vision of wanting the absolute best for them no matter the circumstances.
We love these babies from the moment we know about them. Whole heartedly with no conditions. We care for them in ways others aren’t able to. We worry about them in ways that others can’t understand.
So this Mother’s Day celebrate and love on all of the Mamas.
No matter where your children are, you are a Mama and you matter. 🤍
Happy Mother’s Day😘
